Our Story

From Diggers to Storage Solutions Dainton began in 1971 when David Maddicott founded Dainton Excavators, supplying heavy machinery across Devon and the South West.

As customer needs evolved, so did we, adding shipping containers and portable buildings in 1985, and launching our first self storage site in Heathfield in 2003.

We’re now the largest privately owned containerised self storage provider in Europe, with 14 facilities and 7 business parks across the South West and South Wales. Though we’ve grown, we’re still proudly family owned, focused on great value, trust, and customer-first service.

Every site is staffed by friendly teams who are on hand to help, and we also stock a full range of packing materials and storage essentials, ready to pick up when you need them.
